SPRING FEST 2000 SLATED FOR APRIL 28 AT UNK

UNK- Spring Fest 2000, an all-day concert event at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, has been slated for April 28.

Designed as an end-of-the year event for students, eight bands have been scheduled to perform from 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union Courtyard. The event was started last year as a way for UNK resident advisors to say “goodbye” to students in the same manner that they say “hello” in the fall, said Anthony Dworak, Spring Fest coordinator.

Funds collected for the 2000 event from concessions, T-Shirt sales and donations will benefit the UNK Habitat for Humanity Million Pennies Drive. Admission is free and the public is invited. Last year $1,500 was raised for the Nebraskans Who Care campaign on behalf of Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo.

The theme of Spring Fest 2000 is “Under Construction,” which gives a nod to Habitat for Humanity. The theme also acknowledges the construction and renovation efforts to start this summer at the Nebraskan Student Union–the backdrop for the concerts.

Bands scheduled to perform at Spring Fest 2000 are Purge, Aaron Zimmer Band, Husking April, The Weisenheimers, Kwasiblind, Settle for Less, Ninefall and General Star.

Spring Fest is sponsored by UNK Residential and Greek Life, Student Activities Council and University Programming Facility Fees.
