Sigma Phi Epsilon celebrates 50 years at UNK

SigEp logoKEARNEY – More than 300 Sigma Phi Epsilon alumni from 20 states are expected to attend 50th anniversary celebration activities hosted by the University of Nebraska at Kearney fraternity this weekend.

The Nebraska Gamma RLC chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded at UNK on Oct. 1, 1965, and has since initiated more than 1,500 members. Before becoming Sigma Phi Epsilon, the fraternity was known as Caledonia.

The UNK SigEp chapter is one of 15 only nationwide that has won five or more Buchanan Cups, the fraternity’s most prestigious award. It currently has more than 85 active members at UNK.

UNK’s SigEp chapter became an accredited Residential Learning Community (RLC) in 2013. The RLC concept promotes personal growth, on-campus activities and life skills needed to succeed after graduation. It also complements academic studies and increases collaboration between undergraduates and university faculty to enhance the academic experience.

  1. I recently heard of the 50 year celebration this week-end. Is it possible to receive a list of the former Caledonians who are registered to attend? i would be
interested in attending if I new of former Cals who were attending. Also I did not see registration instructions if not too late??
    Sincerely,
