Pi Kappa Alpha, a social fraternity, raised $8,500 in philanthropic events last year at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

“Our biggest philanthropy is the Dr. Kent Estes Memorial Golf Tournament,” said Nate Summerfield of Wayne, president of Pi Kappa Alpha. On April 25, the fraternity will host the tournament, which raised more than $7,500 for scholarships last year.
In addition to the memorial golf tournament, the fraternity also held a haunted house fundraiser and assisted Central Elementary School with a spaghetti feed last semester.

The Pike Haunted House raised $643 and collected 567 cans of food for the Kearney Jubilee Center. In November, the fraternity raised $397 in ticket sales for Central Elementary School and served food from the Spaghetti Shop to ticket buyers.
