At a news conference this morning (Wednesday, May 3), the University of Nebraska at Kearney announced that the undergraduate and master’s degrees in business have earned international accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

UNK is one of only 12 institutions of higher education from five countries to earn AACSB accreditation this spring. In all, only 527 institutions world-wide, which is less than 10 percent of all the business schools in the world, have attained AACSB accreditation.

“The AACSB International Accreditation is affirmation of the high quality of education provided to UNK students through the business programs in the College of Business & Technology,” said Dr. Bruce Forster, dean of the UNK College of Business and Technology. “The professionalism of the faculty has been evident throughout this process. They are dedicated to the concept of continuous improvement.

“We are all proud of this accomplishment and will continue to do what we do best–educate those who are eager to pursue careers in business,” he said.

In addition to UNK, the newly accredited schools include: Berry College (USA), Bilkent University (Turkey), Clayton State University (USA), Ecole Superieure de Commerce et de Management (France), McMaster University (Canada), Prairie View A&M University (USA, Rockhurst University (USA), Southern Utah University (USA), The American University in Cairo (Egypt) and Washburn University (USA).

“We congratulate the University of Nebraska at Kearney and welcome it into the AACSB family of internationally accredited business schools,” said John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB International.

“AACSB accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. The faculties, deans, directors and administrative staffs are to be commended for their important roles in helping their schools earn initial accreditation.”

In addition to UNK, the newly accredited schools include: Berry College (USA), Bilkent University (Turkey), Clayton State University (USA), Ecole Superieure de Commerce et de Management (France), McMaster University (Canada), Prairie View A&M University (USA, Rockhurst University (USA), Southern Utah University (USA), The American University in Cairo (Egypt) and Washburn University (USA).
