Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Earns National Recognition

Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity at the University of Nebraska at Kearney has received the Buchanan Outstanding Chapter Award.

“This is the highest award that a chapter may receive,” said Jonathan Crouch of Broken Bow, vice president of communications for the group. “In order to qualify, chapters must show excellence in all areas of chapter operations over a two-year period.” The award was presented during the National Conclave held recently in Nashville, Tenn. The fraternity also received the Buchanan award in 2001.

“The award recognizes the positive influence that members of Sigma Phi Epsilon project throughout the fraternity and on the campus,” Crouch added.

Chartered in 1965, the UNK Sig Eps sponsor and participate in numerous philanthropic events. Among those events is the annual Augie Nelson Golf Classic which raises money for the National Kidney Foundation of Nebraska.
