The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) has joined the University of Nebraska at Kearney in hosting the “Telling Our Own Mental Health Success Stories” event from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14.

Presenters from the NAMI program “In Our Own Voice: Living with Mental Illness” will tell how they have effectively addressed their mental illnesses and succeeded in leading productive lives. The “In Our Own Voice” program is designed so that individuals can hear from people who have struggled with mental disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other severe mental illnesses.

The event will take place at the Nebraskan Student Union in Ponderosa Rooms A and B, and is free and open to the public.

Sponsors for this event include: the Nebraska Humanities Council, the UNK College of Fine Arts and Humanities, the UNMC College of Nursing, the Nebraska Respite Network and NAMI Nebraska.
