A new Latina sorority is being organized on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus this spring, according to Cami Wacker, associate director for UNK Student Development & Retention Programs.

An informational meeting for Lambda Theta Nu sorority will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Nebraskan Student Union Cedar Room.

“The meeting, which is open to all women on the campus, is sponsored by the UNK Division of Student Life,” Wacker said. For more information about the meeting, individuals may contact Wacker at: wackerc@unk.edu or call 308.865.8519. More information about the organization is available at: www.lambdathetanu.org

Wacker said that the purpose of Lambda Theta Nu sorority will be to “open doors of opportunity to the Latinas of our community.”

“The primary focus is academic excellence and meeting the needs of Latina women in higher education,” she said.
Lambda Theta Nu Sorority also promotes the advancement of Latinas through various campus activities and community services, and provides an environment for personal growth within a unit of sisterhood. Lambda Theta Nu Sorority’s priorities, however, will focus on academic excellence and community service.
