Professionals in the fields of advertising, marketing, public relations and career services will share their expertise with University of Nebraska at Kearney students in a job/internship panel presentation from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in Copeland Hall, Room 130.

Featured speakers will be Tom Johnson, a public information officer for the Nebraska Lottery; Lori Cody, director of marketing and advertising for The Buckle; and Diana Kircher, assistant director of UNK Career Services. They will speak on advertising, public relations and marketing, telling students what they look for in a new hire and what students can do to prepare themselves.

“The better prepared students are for the hiring process, the more apt they are to be successful in it,” said Dr. Ruth Brown, AD/PR Club adviser and associate professor of communication. The event is sponsored by the UNK Advertising and Public Relations (Ad/PR) Club,

“The Advertising and Public Relations Club wants to help students succeed,” she added. “The organization brings speakers to campus every year to talk about jobs and internships.” The event is free and open to the public. Free pizza and pop will be available.

“More than 75 people attended the last job/internship panel,” Dr. Brown said. “We would be very happy to match or exceed that number this time around.”
