UNK Holds Second Annual New Music Festival

The University of Nebraska at Kearney will be holding the Second Annual New Music Festival on March 31 and April 1. This is the only such music festival held in the state of Nebraska.

A concert of composers from throughout the country will take place on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

There will be a symposium on April 1 at 9:30 a.m. in the Fine Arts Recital Hall followed by a masterclass for student composers at 11 a.m. At 5:30 p.m. there will be a student composers concert in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

The program will include compositions by UNK faculty members, students, and composers from 10 other states. Various musical styles and media are represented in the festival including piano, voice, saxophone, flute, brass quintet, and other instruments. Many of the guest composers will be attending the two days of activities.

All events are free and open to the public.
