The University of Nebraska at Kearney will host a week of homecoming activities “The American Way” beginning October 7-12.

During the week, eight residence halls, 10 Greek houses, and three university organizations have formed teams to battle in various homecoming competitions. On Monday, October 7, Limbo will be held at 4 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union courtyard. On Tuesday student teams will compete in tricycle races at 4 p.m. also in the courtyard. The Crazylimpics, scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the courtyard, will showcase these teams competing in messy food obstacle courses.

According to Karla Falk, coordinator of Student Activities, Thursday’s schedule, which includes Lip Sync, was very popular last year.

“Last year we had nearly 1,000 spectators come to enjoy the amusing Lip Sync contestants giving their best performances,” Falk said.

Lip Sync, the Spirit Competition and the Royalty Crowing begin at 7 p.m. in the Health and Sports Center. On Friday, the Lawn Display Competition begins at 2 p.m. Finally, the homecoming parade will start at 10 a.m. on Central Avenue in downtown Kearney, followed by the UNK vs. Colorado Mines football game beginning at 1 p.m. at Foster Field.

UNK homecoming activities are funded by UPFF, and by the Students Activities Council.
