Students and faculty of the University of Nebraska at Kearney attended the North Central Branch of the Entomological Society of America meetings in East Lansing, Mich., March 24-27.

“This society is dedicated to the study of insects because of their importance to humans,” said Dr. Wyatt Hoback, assistant professor of biology. “Members, who are professors, graduate students, and undergraduates, attend the meetings to learn about new developments in entomology. The presentations this year included teaching using insects, pest control, and basic biology of insects,” said Hoback.

Megan Jehorek of Ogallala received an award for best oral presentation and John R. Riggins of Franklin received an award for best poster both in the undergraduate student category. Dr. Wyatt Hoback received an Educational Project Award for the website “Marine Insects.”
