DENISE SCHLAKE NAMED VICE CHANCELLOR FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS

Dr. Denise Schlake has been named Vice Chancellor for Student Life at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She will begin her duties at UNK on July 1, 2001, pending approval of the Board of Regents.

Dr. Schlake is currently the Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student and International Affairs at the University of Missouri-Rolla. She has previously held positions of Student Life Assistant Director at Southwest Missouri-Columbia and Assistant Dean for Student Development at Southwest Missouri State University.

“Dr. Schlake brings a solid background of experience and a sound knowledge of Student Life to this position,” said Chancellor Gladys Styles Johnston. Dr. Schlake earned her master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Schlake is a member of the American College Personnel Association, Association for Student Judicial Affairs, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the Association on Higher Education and Disability. She is currently serving as Information Technology Network Chair, NASPA Region IV-West.
