2000-2001 UNK CHANCELLOR’S AMBASSADORS SELECTED

UNKSeventeen University of Nebraska at Kearney students have been selected to serve as the Chancellor’s Ambassadors for the 2000-2001 academic year.

As official hosts and hostesses for UNK, the Chancellor’s Ambassadors represent the university and assist in entertaining celebrities, dignitaries and other official guests of the university at gatherings hosted by UNK Chancellor Gladys Styles Johnston.

“Our Ambassadors render a marvelous service to their university as they help me host various campus events,” Chancellor Johnston said. “They are wonderful young men and women who interpret beautifully their educational and leadership experiences at UNK.”

Ambassadors are chosen based on their involvement in campus activities, academic background, poise, leadership ability, knowledge of UNK, and interpersonal and communication skills.

“The Ambassadors are selected carefully after a rigorous application and interview process,” Chancellor Johnston said. “This process is highly competitive, and only a few students are chosen to represent UNK in this very public fashion.”

After being selected, Ambassadors receive training in etiquette, campus history and a variety of other relevant topics. They serve for one academic year, and are expected to attend monthly meetings and be available to represent the university at selected events.

The 2000-2001 Chancellor’s Ambassadors are listed alphabetically by hometown. Returning Ambassadors are marked with an asterisk.
