SECOND ANNUAL STUDENT RESEARCH DAY SET FOR APRIL 24 AT UNK

UNK- The second annual Student Research Day at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 24 in the Nebraskan Student Union.

Student Research Day will feature research projects, conferences on language and literature, a psychic fair and music presentations involving several different academic departments. The day will start with poster presentations of student research projects in various fields of study. Those posters will then be judged and will be open to the public for viewing in the Nebraskan Student Union Ponderosa Room.

Also taking place during the day will be the Student Conference on Language and Literature from 9:05 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., an art student exhibition from noon to 5 p.m., a psychic fair from 2 to 3:15 p.m., music provided by Trisha DeShon (oboe) and Marilyn Musick (piano) from 3:30 to 4 p.m., the Student Research Day awards reception from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the event will conclude with Celebrating the Word: Student Reading of Poetry, Fiction and Drama at 7 p.m.

Ken Nikels, Dean of Graduate Studies, said Student Research Day has two primary functions.

“First, Student Research Day is a way to provide recognition to students and their faculty mentors for their research activities,” he said. “And secondly, this is a way for the rest of the university community to become aware of the research opportunities that UNK offers.”

Over 200 students plan to take part in Student Research Day and the public is invited to attend.
