UNK FORENSICS

UNK-The University of Nebraska at Kearney Forensics Team competed in the Southwestern College/Point Loma Nazarene University Swing Tournament in San Diego, Calif., Feb. 4-6.

The tournament was one of the largest regular season tournaments in the country with 64 teams competing. UNK placed fourth in the sweepstakes at the Southwestern College half of the tournament. Nick Teede of Greeley won informative speaking and placed second in prose. Melissa Shaw of Roseland took third in persuasion. Kirk Burtwistle of Stanton placed fourth in after dinner speaking and fourth in communication analysis. Rachel Zeiger of Syracuse was second in poetry.

At the Point Loma Nazarene University half of the tournament, Trede placed second in informative speaking, fourth in prose and third in duo with Shaw. Shaw also placed third in communication analysis. Carie Steele of Hickman was a finalist in extemporaneous speaking.

UNK Forensics has seven students qualified in 19 events for the national tournament in April.
