“Phantoms at the Frank House,” featuring a Victorian-themed Halloween, is set for Saturday, Oct. 31.
“Victorians celebrated Halloween with games and entertainment, not with witchcraft or ghosts,” said Frank House director KrisAnn Sullivan. There will be Victorian games, sugar cookie decorating using a Victorian recipe, popcorn, 21st century slime and stories including “What Was I Afraid Of” by Dr. Seuss.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Frank House, which is located on the University of Nebraska at Kearney West Campus. No reservations are required, and participants may attend in costume.
Although Victorians did not celebrate Halloween with witchcraft or ghosts, there will be one spooky historical story told.
“The Frank House has its own spooky story about a boy named Peg and a leg, just in case anyone has seen a leg walking around at night,” Sullivan said.
