TITLE: “The Great Plains IDeA-CTR: A Network to Further Develop Clinical and Translational Research Across the Region”
SPEAKER / PRESENTER: Howard S. Fox, senior associate dean of research and development, College of Medicine, University of Nebraska Medical Center; Professor and executive vice chair, Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience; Director of the Center for Integrative and Translational Neuroscience.
BIO: Dr. Howard Fox received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Biophysics from The Johns Hopkins University and his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. Following post-doctoral work at Cold Spring Harbor Labs and Anatomic Pathology residency and fellowship at UCSF, he began his independent research career in 1990 in the Department of Immunology at The Scripps Research Institute, moving to the Department of Neuropharmacology to pursue his work on the brain. In 2008, he moved to the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience at the University of Nebraska Medical Center to expand the translational aspects of his work.
ABSTRACT: Fox will talk about collaborative work taking place within the Great Plains IDeA Clinical Translational Research Network. This collaborative effort involves nine institutions in Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Kansas to reach medically underserved populations and transform health delivery and outcomes in the Great Plains region. The Great Plains IDeA-CTR Network seeks to advance the National Institutes of Health mission to improve the health of Americans across the lifespan through innovative research, high quality patient care, outreach to underserved populations, and premier educational programs in the areas of mind, brain and body health.
