UNK– School system representatives from as far away as Alaska and Texas will be on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus Tuesday, March 30, seeking teachers, counselors, speech language pathologists and administrators at the Educators’ Employment Fair.
In all, there will be more that 30 employers represented at the event, which will take place from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the second floor of the Nebraskan Student Union. The Fair is being sponsored by the UNK Office of Academic and Career Services and is open to current students and UNK alumni as well as graduates of other institutions.
While there is no charge to participate, individuals must register by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 24. Individuals can register over the Internet at http://www.unk.edu/edfair or by calling the UNK Office of Academic and Career Services at 308.865.8501.
“We invite the employers to the city and campus of UNK, and provide an engaging environment where the hiring needs of employers can be matched with our skilled education graduates,” said Mary Daake, UNK Office of Academic and Career Services director. In the past, more than 200 people have participated in the employment fair.
“We have the following schools registered for the first time in many years: Cross County in Stromsburg, Schuyler Community Schools in Schuyler and St. Mary’s School in O’Neill,” Daake said.
Participating employers are listed alphabetically, beginning with Nebraska employers: Arlington Public Schools; Bellevue Public Schools; Bridgeport Public Schools; Boys Town; Columbus Public Schools; Conestoga Public Schools, Murray;Cross County Community School, Stromsburg; Deshler Public Schools; Fairbury Public Schools; Giltner Public Schools;Grand Island Public Schools; Lexington Public Schools; Lincoln Public Schools; McCook Public Schools; Millard Public Schools; Omaha Public Schools; Papillion La Vista Public Schools; Plattsmouth Community Schools; Perkins County Schools, Grant and Madrid; Ralston Public Schools; St. Mary’s Schools, O’Neill; Schuyler Community Schools; Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, Sumner; and Wilcox-Hildreth Public Schools
Out-of-state schools represented include: Alaska – Bering Strait School District and Lower Kuskokwim School District; Iowa –
Area Education Agency 13 in Council Bluffs; Kansas – High Plains Educational Cooperative in Ulysses, Liberal Unified School, Matson Steele and Wichita Public Schools; South Dakota – Rapid City Area Schools; and Texas – Alief ISD, Houston.
