The 2019 University of Nebraska Graduate College Workshop will be held at UNMC’s Durham Research Center 1 on Friday, April 5, 2019, with additional satellite locations at UNK and UNL using two-way video. This no-cost workshop will bring together graduate students, postdoctoral associates and graduate faculty from across the University’s four campuses to explore non-academic career opportunities after graduation.

This year’s workshop will feature Dr. Isaiah Hankel, Founder and CEO of Cheeky Scientist and the Cheeky Scientist Association—a private network of over 4,000 PhDs, from over 32 different countries who are in non-academic careers or who are seeking non-academic careers. Dr. Hankel will deliver a keynote presentation at two sessions.

The morning session for graduate students and postdoctoral associates begins at 9:00 a.m. and features a keynote presentation on “Career Advice for the Strategic Scientist.” Dr. Hankel will speak on identifying, developing and articulating the key skills gained through their academic study to today’s job market.

The afternoon session for graduate faculty begins at 1:00 p.m. and features a second keynote presentation on “Academic Leadership: Supporting Graduate Students Through Their Career Journey.” Dr. Hankel’s faculty-focused presentation will discuss how to help students prepare for non-academic careers.

Registration for this no-cost workshop must be received via the online registration portal by Wednesday, March 27. For more information and to register, visit:
