UNK public hearing on College Arts and Sciences bylaws is Nov. 29

KEARNEY –The University of Nebraska at Kearney will host a public hearing from 3-4 p.m. Nov. 29 to discuss the constitution and bylaws for the university’s new College of Arts and Sciences.

The meeting is in Copeland Hall room 142 on the UNK campus. An electronic vote for all full-time College of Arts and Sciences faculty to adopt the constitution and bylaws will occur Dec. 3.

UNK’s colleges of Fine Arts and Humanities and Natural and Social Sciences merged to form a new College of Arts and Sciences. The consolidation, approved June 28 by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, represents the most significant change in UNK’s academic structure since the school joined the university system in 1991.

The College of Arts and Sciences formally launched Aug. 13, a week before fall semester classes started. More than 60 faculty members served on committees that provided input throughout the academic restructuring process.

For more information regarding the constitution and bylaws, contact Peter Longo, interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, at 308.865.8995 or longop@unk.edu.
