KEARNEY – University of Nebraska at Kearney head women’s basketball coach Carrie Eighmey and Jon Watts, vice chancellor of business and finance, are taking part in Kearney’s Dancing with the Stars 2 on Saturday (Oct. 21.?).
The event, organized by Kearney’s Dawn and Noon Rotary clubs, will raise significant financial support for the Central Nebraska Veterans Memorial.
The program starts at 6 p.m. at the Younes Conference Center. Tickets are still available for purchase at http://www.kdwts.org/
“It’s been fun working with Jon to create an entertaining dance that will raise much-needed support for a Veterans memorial,” said Eighmey. “This may be outside my comfort zone, but I’m hoping that our fans enjoy our performance, appreciate our effort and cast their votes to help a worthy cause. ?”
For the past six months, the dancers learned and practiced a competitive routine, coached by UNK dance professor Noelle Bohaty. They’ll perform that routine Saturday and be judged on their ability by a panel of celebrity judges. Audience members will be able to vote for their favorites during and prior to Saturday night for the People’s Choice award.
”You vote with money,” Rotary member Jeff Warren told Rick Brown of the Kearney Hub. “The more votes that participants get, the more money we raise and the more money that goes to a memorial for our Veterans.”?”
