KEARNEY – The University Theatre at Kearney presents “Two x Tenn,” two one-act plays written by Tennessee Williams, Wednesday through Sunday (Feb. 15-19) at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

“Two x Tenn” features “27 Wagons Full of Cotton” and “Some Problems for the Moose Lodge.”

“27 Wagons Full of Cotton” tells the story of Jake, a shady, middle-aged cotton gin owner who burns down his rival’s mill. His rival attempts to get revenge by seducing Jake’s wife, Flora.

In “Some Problems for the Moose Lodge,” Cornelius and Bella McCorkle return from a trip to Memphis where they buried their oldest son, Chips. When they arrive home, they find that their youngest son, Charlie, has returned home with his new, pregnant, born-again Christian fiancé, Stacey. Tensions rise when Charlie points the blame for his tragic family history on Cornelius.

Tennessee Williams was an American playwright who wrote the award-winning plays “The Glass Menagerie,” “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” He is regarded as one of the greatest playwrights in American history and was known for creating gritty characters and heartbreaking themes.
