Wind Ensemble performing three-day concert tour in eastern Nebraska

KEARNEY – The University of Nebraska at Kearney Wind Ensemble will perform at six eastern Nebraska high schools during a three-day concert tour.

The Wind Ensemble, directed by Duane Bierman, opens the tour with a 7:30 p.m. concert in the Recital Hall at the UNK Fine Arts Building on Wednesday (Feb. 1).

The band will perform at three Nebraska schools on Thursday (Feb. 2). They will present concerts to students at Wood River High School at 8:30 a.m. and Fullerton High School at 1 p.m. The band then performs a concert, which is free and open to the public, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Columbus High School. The Wind Ensemble will share the evening concert with the Columbus High School band.

On Friday (Feb. 3), the Wind Ensemble performs at 9:40 a.m. at Oakland-Craig High School in Oakland, and at 1:50 p.m. at Pierce High School.

On Saturday (Feb. 4), members of the ensemble will spend time touring the National Music Museum in Vermillion, S.D., and then perform at Blair High School at 2 p.m.

The concert tour features guest soloist Tim Farrell on trumpet. Farrell is chair of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance at UNK. The auditioned group of 41 players is dedicated to presenting a wide variety of quality band literature.
