Corey Kapellas of San Francisco assembles new artwork Tuesday that is being hung this week inside the Health Science Education Complex at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The piece of art, titled “River At Dawn,” is a suspended aluminum sculpture that weighs 250 pounds and measures 50 feet long. The sculpture was created by San Francisco artist Daniel Goldstein and was inspired by the Platte River. The project – a partnership between UNK, University of Nebraska Medical Center and Nebraska Arts Council – is funded by the 1% For Art program that places art in Nebraska’s state buildings, colleges and University of Nebraska system.
