Symphony Orchestra concert features woodwind artist Chris Vadala

Chris-Vidala-WebAccomplished woodwind artist Chris Vadala is a featured soloist in the upcoming Kearney Symphony Orchestra concert “Lots of Jazz.”

The show is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 23) in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Fine Arts Recital Hall.

Vadala is director of jazz studies and saxophone professor at University of Maryland. He travels worldwide, performing with and conducting student and professional jazz ensembles, symphonic bands and orchestras.

He has performed or recorded with Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, B.B. King, Chick Corea, Ella Fitzgerald and many others. He also appears on soundtracks for “Criminal Minds,” “Zombieland” and “Anchorman2.”

In addition to Vadala, the concert also features Concerto/Aria Competition winner Megan Decker, a UNK graduate from Beatrice, and student conductor Kory Reeder of Kearney.
