Among the physical activities planned are step aerobics, team-building, participating with members of the UNK baseball team, obstacle courses and the parachute. Nutrition education will include lessons on energy balance, making healthy snacks, label logic, portion distortion, MyPlate, オンライン ブラックジャック and the importance of food safety and washing hands.

Nebraska Kids Fitness and Nutrition Day – which was created by Kate Heelan, UNK professor and director of the Physical Activity and Wellness Laboratory, and Kaiti George, HyVee Dietitian – is funded by the Nebraska Beef Council, Two Rivers Public Health District and UNK. The program has now been packaged into standard curriculum, which many communities are now using.

In 2014, five other communities – Hastings, McCook, Sidney, Chadron and Alliance – will also host the event.
