Annual Juried Student Art Exhibit at Walker Gallery Through March 15; Award Winners Announced

The winners and exhibitors in the annual juried student art show at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Walker Gallery have been announced.

The exhibit, which is on display in the gallery now through March 15, is free and open to the public 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 a.m. Monday- Friday.

The winners are listed below, alphabetically by hometown, followed by their award placement and work.

Amherst- Amy Gugel, second place in graphic design for “Catgroove by Parov Stelar.”

Aurora-  Matt Schultz, first place in graphic design for “Animal Farm.”

Bartley- Kassidy McConville, second place in photography for “Try Me.”

Bertrand- Taylor Nation, first place in sculpture/ceramics for “A Hatching.”

Elm Creek- Alexa Else, second place in glass for “Brown Bowl.”

Elm Creek- Laura Fear, second place in drawing for “Yellow Pond.”

Fairfield- Kelsi Bradley, first place in printmaking for, “Stretch Forth Your Hand.”

Grand Island- Kenny Galusha, first and third place in glass for “Solution” and “Coral Form #1,” respectively.

Kearney- Jeff Jacobitz, third place in drawing for “Study,” and first and second place in painting for “Behind Wisdom” and “Phoenix,” respectively.

Kearney- Thomas Dircksen, third place in sculpture/ceramics for “Oak” and third place in painting for “Beyond These Bars.”

Lincoln- Tori Thompson, Best of Show for her charcoal work “Ford’s Theatre.”

Mullen- Elizabeth Starr, selected for inclusion in the exhibit for her ceramics works, “Tea Time” and “Sunday Afternoon.”

Norfolk- Elizabeth Plettner, first and third place in photography for “Remus von Boyd” and “Romulus,” respectively; first place in drawing for “King Spatangoid”; and second place in sculpture/ceramics for “Fissure.”
