Learn to see what’s visible in the night sky during the planetarium show, “Night Sky Sampler,” being presented on Friday, April 20, in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Bruner Hall of Science.

Guest presenter Dan Glomski will begin the show at 7 p.m. The show is free and open to the public; however, any donation of dry or canned goods for the Campus Kitchens will be accepted. Tickets will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. An encore show will begin at 8 p.m. if there is an overflow in attendance.

“The show will give the audience a tour of the current night sky revealing the brightest stars, constellations and planets, as well as a few out-of-the-way places,” said Dr. Jose Mena-Werth, director of the UNK planetarium and professor of physics and physical science.  After the 30minute show, there will be a question and answer period.

“The UNK planetarium is currently the most modern planetarium between Chicago and Phoenix,” he said.

Reservations are not available for public shows, and children must be five years of age or older to attend. Also, no food or drinks are allowed inside the planetarium. Once a show has begun, no one will be admitted to the planetarium, and anyone who leaves during a show will not be re-admitted.

The final presentation of “Night Sky Sampler,” will be Friday, May 11.
