University of Nebraska at Kearney students needing help with their tax returns can get free assistance from members of Beta Alpha Psi from 1 – 4 p.m. this Saturday (Feb. 11).

The members of Beta Alpha Psi, an honor society for financial information students and professionals, will be available in the Nebraskan Student Union Cedar Room.

“Our seniors and graduate students have in-depth knowledge on how to do student tax returns,” said Dr. Janet Trewin, UNK associate professor of accounting and finance and Beta Alpha Psi adviser.

Students are asked to bring their W-2 form(s), picture ID, Social Security card or a document with their Social Security number on it, and any forms that indicate income expenses such as scholarship information and tuition costs.

“We have to know they’re who they say they are, and social security numbers have to be correct,” Dr. Trewin said.

A second session will be held Saturday, March 10, from 1-4 p.m. at a location yet to be determined.
