Two University of Nebraska at Kearney communications majors will receive awards at the annual Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Nebraska Awards Gala on Thursday, Dec. 8, in LaVista.

Brie Maaske and Jay Sloan, both of Kearney, will receive awards at the recognition event, which will take place at the LaVista  Embassy Suites.

The awards are for public relations campaigns they created for the World Theatre in Kearney as a semester-long project in an advanced public relations class taught by Dr. Keith Terry, UNK professor of communication.

To be considered for the award, students had to submit a concise summary regarding the research, planning, execution and evaluation of their campaign, a 100-word description of their program, and any supporting materials for the campaign including research reports, surveys, news releases, clippings and samples of tactical materials.

Students entered under the categories Outstanding Classroom Campaign and Outstanding Media Kit.
