UNK – Sword fights and fencing demonstrations will be a few of the activities at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Frank House on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The Hastings Fencing Club will demonstrate fencing skills from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on the Frank House lawn. The Frank House is located on the UNK West Campus. The fencing demonstration, one in a series of Saturday at the Frank House presentations, is free and open to the public. Donations to the Frank House are always accepted.

Giving the demonstration will be Hastings Fencing Club members Dave Beins, Abdel Bruguera, Andrew Albinger, Gavin Smith and others. The Hastings Fencing Club was formed in 2007, with the goal of educating those interested in swordsmanship. According to a representative of the organization, the group is actively accepting new members.

The Frank House showcases antique sabers in its collection. George William Frank, Frank House architect and a civil engineer, wore a saber as part of his military school uniform.

Guided tours and light refreshments will be available at the Frank House immediately after the presentation.
