Staff Senate Recognition Day Tuesday, March 13

The second annual Staff Recognition Day, which is hosted by Staff Senate and planned by the Staff Senate Professional Development Committee, is set for 9 a.m. on Tuesday,March 13.

The event will open with a welcome by Staff Senate President Brandon Benitz and an introduction of Staff Senate members.

Among those recognized will be 2006 recipients of Employee of the Month, Department of the Month,KUDOS/Resolutions Award, TIAA-CREF Staff Award for Excellence and New U Makeovers. New employees will be introduced. Chancellor Doug Kristensen will attend as a special guest and will present certificates to those listed above.

Music will be provided by Clayton Willis, and refreshments will be served.

Among those who will be recognized are: Employee of the Month recipients, listed in the order that they received recognition, include: Carmen Brewer, Student Records;Marcia Gugelman, Nebraskan Student Union;Michael Cremers, Facilities; Brenda Paul, College of Education; Brian Spradlin, University Relations; Gloria Mason, Information Technology Services; Karen Atteberry, University Relations; Lynn Bedke, Facilities; Kim Christensen, Business Services; Chilene Black, Student Records & Registration; Bridget Hermanson, Departments of Criminal Justice and Social Work; and Gloria Travis,Human Resources.

Department of the Month recipients, listed in the order that they received recognition, include: Family Studies Program, Parking Services, UNK Athletics,Human Performance Laboratory,UNK Rodeo Club, Information Technology Services Network Services, The Commencement Committee, Accounts Payable, Calvin T. Ryan Library, UNK “Pride of the Plains” Marching Band, Alumni Association, and the ID Card Office & ID Card Committee.

KUDOS Award recipients, listed in chronological order, include: Jon McBride, athletics; Andrea Childress, Information Systems; Marcia Burman, College of Fine Arts and Humanities; Julie Saalfeld, eCampus; Paula Gaasch, Department of Communication Disorders; and Kim Christensen, Business Services.

Resolutions Award recipients were members of the snow removal crew in November of 2005 and March of 2006.

Those recognized include Colby Blank, Mark Morehouse, Howard O’Nele, Mike McCollough, Russ Bergsten and Bruce Schanbacher. TIAA-CREF Staff Award for Excellence recipients include Rich Brodersen and Paula Gaasch. New U Makeover winners include Wilma Heinowski, Public Safety, and Wade Willey, Facilities.

In addition, 42 new employees will be introduced and recognized. Staff Senate serves as a communication link between UNK staff and its administration, faculty and students. Organized in July of 1995, the organization represents all staff employees—office/service, managerial/professional and administrative/directors.

Staff Recognition Day was organized by the Professional Development Committee chaired by Dee Ellingson, psychology.
