UNK- Seven Lexington High School band students will be among the guest performers in the University of Nebraska at Kearney Wind Ensemble concert on Thursday, Feb. 19.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the UNK Fine Arts Recital Hall.

The students were invited to perform based on their selection to the UNK Honor Band Festival in January. They will perform in the patriotic finale, “America, My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”

“We are very excited to have these talented young musicians join the Wind Ensemble for this special opportunity,” said Dr. Neal Schnoor, UNK director of Bands. “The national military bands traditionally provide this opportunity to high school students on their performance tours, and we thought it would be a great tradition to start at UNK.”

The seven Lexington students performing, and the instruments they play, are:
Josh Chessmore, trumpet
Phoebe Gydesen, alto saxophone
Matthew Karges, trombone
Melissa King, oboe
Alex Lopez, trombone
Joel Montes, percussion
Jose Montes, baritone saxophone
