SCORR Marketing, a Kearney-based firm, has been named “Marketer of the Year” by the University of Nebraska at Kearney student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA).

The announcement was made in conjunction with AMA week, which is being observed now through Friday, Jan. 27. Announcing the “Marketer of the Year” is part of the UNK chapter’s AMA week celebration. Throughout the week, the organization will be promoting AMA and the benefits of joining this cross-disciplinary organization, according to Marsha Yeagley, UNK AMA adviser.

Each year, the UNK chapter selects a Kearney area business that has demonstrated outstanding marketing service to Kearney and the surrounding area.

“SCORR, which is owned and operated by Cinda Orr, not only does a superb job of providing strategic marketing planning for their clients, but is also supportive of UNK marketing students,” Yeagley said. “The business provides our students with opportunities for internships and employment, and shares marketing expertise.”

SCORR Marketing, which works with clients on local, regional and national levels, focuses on developing strategic marketing plans. With more than 30 years of combined experience and a base of 70-plus clients, SCORR Marketing continues to grow. The firm recently relocated to Central Avenue.

At the collegiate level, AMA gives marketing students the opportunity for professional development and networking. The organization focuses on the importance of marketing, not only as a career choice, but also in students’ day-to-day lives as educated consumers.

The AMA, one of the largest professional associations for marketers, has 38,000 members worldwide, spread throughout every area of marketing.
