UNK WELCOMES NCAA PRESIDENT MYLES BRAND TO CAMPUS TUESDAY, FEB. 3

Myles Brand, president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, will give the keynote address for the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Nebraskan Student Union.

Jon McBride, UNK athletic director, said: “We are honored that Mr. Brand will visit Kearney and UNK. It is truly going to be an unique opportunity for some of our student-athletes, coaches and staff to interact with the man who is responsible for shaping the future of college sports. Those attending the evening Chamber Annual Meeting will enjoy his perspectives on the role of Division II athletics in building collegiality between an educational institution and its community.”

Brand was president of the University of Oregon from 1989-1994, and he has held positions at Ohio State University, the University of Arizona, the University of Illinois-Chicago and the University of Pittsburgh. He also served as president of Indiana University from 1994-2002. Brand became president of the NCAA on Jan. 1, 2003.
