Dr. John Anderson, associate professor of political science at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, was recently elected to represent the Arts and Sciences on the Governing Board and Executive Committee of the National Network for Educational Renewal.

The NNER is a network that is formed by more than 40 colleges and universities in about 20 states. The national network includes representatives from colleges, universities and public school districts. UNK is one of nine colleges and universities that forms the Nebraska Network for Educational Renewal.

“Educational renewal means school improvement by taking steps toward making schools places where the young are enculturated in a social and political democracy, nurturing pedagogy is practiced, access to knowledge is encouraged, and teachers act as stewards of their schools and schooling,” said Dr. Anderson. “My role will be to represent arts and science faculty along with promoting their engagement in the network.”
