The University of Nebraska at Kearney will host the Nebraska State Speech and Debate Tournament on March 20 and 21. The tournament will be headquartered at the Health and Sports Center and the events will take place in various buildings around campus.
Three tournaments will be held each day. Class A, B, and C1 schools will compete on Thursday, March 20 and Class D1, D2, and C2 schools will compete on Friday, March 21. Competition will begin at 8 a.m. each day.
This is the fifth year that UNK has hosted the tournament. There will be representation from numerous schools across the state. “We usually estimate that about 1000 students will be here each day for competition,” Melanie Conrad, UNK assistant professor of communications, said.
