Manoranjan Pradhan of Orissa, India will be performing the classical Odissi Dance from India in the Miriam Drake Theatre, Fine Arts Building, on May 5 from 5- 6:30 p.m. Pradhan is an eminent international performer and teacher of this exquisite art.

Odissi Dance dates back more than 2000 years and is native to the state of Orissa in India. Originally performed in temples, today it graces stages all over the world. Combining intense, rhythmic footwork, lyrical hand gestures, and dramatic facial expression, Odissi is one of the most dynamic and captivating dance forms today.

The performance is open to the public free of charge. There will also be a potluck dinner to follow at the First Lutheran Church of Kearney.

The Classical Odissi Dance is sponsored by the Artists and Lecturers Committee, the Multicultural Office, the International Education Office, and International Student Services.
