UNK STUDENT IS WINNER OF AARP ANDRUS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Shana Thomas of Bassett, was one of 12 national winners of the AARP Andrus Foundation Scholarships in Gerontology and Financial Planning. Thomas and her faculty sponsor, Dr. Beverly Curry, attended the award ceremony at the White House. Part of Thomas’s research project will be published in UNK’s Undergraduate Research Journal this spring. She plans to pursue graduate studies in the fall.

Thomas is also a member of the Gold Torch Society, a mentoring program organized by the UNK Alumni Association. The Honorable Karen Lueck (UNK 1996 alum), a judge from Anchorage, AL, served as Thomas’s mentor.
