Skills for Success set to begin this week

Hyper Gym (Cushing Coliseum) Health & Sports Center, UNK Campus

BACKGROUND: The Skills for Success program is designed to give young people instruction in life skills such as proper table etiquette, introductions, and various dance techniques. The program is offered by the Chancellor’s Committee for Young People and the UNK Division of Athletics. Through the courses offered in dining, dancing and social amenities the seventh grade students will gain more confidence in attending such functions. Sessions are taught mainly by UNK students. The schedule for the program is as follows:

Session 1– January 19, 6-7 p.m. at Hyper Gym

Country line dance instruction

Session 2 — January 26, 6-7 p.m. at Hyper Gym
Asking/accepting someone to dance
Swing dance instruction

Session 3 — February 2, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Alumni House
Gourmet dinner
Table manners
Dinner conversation

Session 4 — February 9, 6-7 p.m. at Hyper Gym
Issuing/accepting invitations
Writing a thank-you
Swing dance instruction

Session 5 — February 23, 6-7 p.m. at Hyper Gym
Review game
Hip Hop dance instruction

Session 6 — March 2, 6-9 p.m.
Dinner in homes
Graduation dance
